Florida Bats are an asset to our community!
Within the state of Florida, there are 18 species of bats. Some varieties are seasonal, 13 species are year round, and others are accidental species. Florida bats are an asset to the community in they provide valuable insect control. One small bat can consume 600-1,200 mosquito-sized insects per hour! This contributes to insect control toward the more readily disease-carrying mosquitoes. Bats will consume their body weight nightly. That alone makes Florida bats are an asset to our community!
